The name of the library in the parish of the "SS. Crocifisso alla Collegiata" in Monreale is "Biblioteca Popolare SS. Crocifisso", renamed today library of the "Associazione Culturale Girolamo Venero".

The library contains 3457 volumes of different kind:

•        books of narrative;

•        classical texts;

•        school Books;

•        volumes on the history of Sicily and on the single insular realities;

•        volumes concerning subjects of moral theology, fundamental theology, history of the Church and patristics;

•        handbooks of Christian doctrine and of catechism;

•        philosophical works;

•        biographies.

Besides different volume of texts, the library is equipped of encyclopaedic volumes, dictionaries, magazines, periodicals, biblical collection of songs and of prayers.

The volumes were numbered one by one, catalogued and arranged on different shelves, prepared with the precise purpose to preserve them.

A short synthesis of each text has been made to extrapolate the subject treated in order to arrange them by topics.

Every text was completed and analysed in accordance with the author, the publishing house, the place and the date of publication, the title, the number of pages, the context, the condition and the author's notes. Some index-cards have been compiled to be inserted into a computer program. The work has not been completed yet and it's in process.

The intention of the Association is to render accessible the texts to those that are interested, and to those that want to visit the library to satisfy their cultural needs.

Our patrimony will be at the disposal for everyone, and it will be possible to research directly on-line through our web-site the texts catalogued according to their typology.
